“Delight”

Michigan Ministry Wives Retreat 2017

To delight means “to find great pleasure.” Delight is easily stolen from our lives. God Almighty intended for us to find delight in Him, in others and in ourselves. We live in hurried, stress-filled lives that prevent us from delighting…really delighting. How different would our lives be if we were women of delight? What if we held on so tightly to that delight that no one or nothing could steal that delight? In Psalm 37:4 it says, “Take delight in The Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.” There is so much wrapped up in this verse. What does it mean to delight in The Lord? And what about the desires of your heart, are they in line with God’s heart? Over the weekend we will journey together delighting in our Father God and examining our heart’s desires.

God has something to say to us. He delights in you, His daughter. He loves you beyond measure and if you are feeling like you need to rediscover or recharge your delight in Him, His Word, His people and in yourself this weekend away is for you!

We will dive deep into The Word hearing from The Lord that you are a treasure and He delights in YOU! We will dig into what it looks like to delight in Him! People are difficult to love at times but we will talk about delighting in others even when they are less than delightful! We tend to be hard on ourselves. There is an abundance of negative self-talk plaguing our lives keeping us from experiencing His best for us. Over the weekend we will tackle that negative self-talk learning to delight in the women God has made us to be!

Spending time together as ministry wives with unique perspectives on life through the lens of the “parsonage” is so very important. But, even more than that…we are just simply ordinary women that have hurts, struggles and joys just like any other woman and time together to be honestly vulnerable in a safe place is needed. How about we step away for several hours and just be us? My heart is for that and I believe His heart is for that too.

Take a breath and prepare your heart to hear from Him. As you ready yourself for the weekend, read Psalm 37. Read it again and again. Keep a journal of what you hear from The Lord as you saturate yourself in this chapter of Psalm until we meet in September. Do some research on it, pray through it, memorize a verse or two from it. However you choose to study it is up to you. In our first moments together at the retreat we will share what God said to us in His Word. I cannot wait to hear what He says to you!

I am already sitting in delight as I anticipate our time together! I cannot wait to make new friends and learn from your hearts. I encourage you to join us in September as we DELIGHT!

Crystal

Dear Ministry Wife,

Life sure can get busy and complicated, right? We have families with husbands and kids, and family members who bring us joy, like new grand babies. There can be drama and disappointments as well. Now, add all the things that go on in our churches and not to mention the responsibilities we have in our jobs. We're loaded with stuff and commitments and deadlines. I think it's time to take a weekend away and find some "Delight!"

I'm very excited to invite you to join me in attending the Michigan Ministry Wives Retreat which will be led by Crystal Colp, a Michigan ministry wife, serving at First Church of God in St. Joseph, Michigan. Crystal is serving as director of Discipleship and Women's Ministries as well as being a speaker and writer. It's Crystal's desire to see individuals value God's Word as applicable to everyday life. We will be looking specifically at Psalm 37 over the weekend and we are encouraged by Crystal to read it several times before our time together. We will be sharing together how God's Word has spoken to us. Joining Crystal in leading us in worship will be her friend and colleague Rachel Green. Our time together will be relaxing, refreshing, and revitalizing!

Some of you who are reading this have never been to the Ministry Wives Retreat and I want to encourage you to come. Crystal will lead us in discovering new things from God's Word. It will be inspirational and I'm confident you will have a wonderful time. When you arrive on Friday there will be other ministry wives there to welcome you and help you feel at ease. We'll have some delicious soup and bread for you to enjoy as well as some long deserved pampering. The entire Retreat is planned with you in mind!

The brochure has information regarding this year's retreat. Use the registration form below or fill out the registration inside the brochure and mail it to the Church of God in Michigan along with the $35.00 registration fee by September 1. The remaining balance will be collected when you arrive at the Retreat Center. You may also use the PayPal link below to pay either the registration fee or the full amount. A letter has already been sent to your church's Board of Trustees/Council/ CWC/Women's Ministry group encouraging them to provide for your entire retreat fee.

The Retreat will again be held at the St. Francis Retreat Center in DeWitt, Michigan. It's a very peaceful, comfortable place with all the nice amenities we like. We will also offer a "clothes exchange" during the Retreat. Bring clean, wearable clothes you don't want any more to trade with other ministry wives. It's a fun way to purge you closet, help out a fellow ministry wife and to give your wardrobe a little tweak.
